Judah Makover, CHBE RISE Program - Service For Service, I was the founding Vice President of the Chemical Engineering (CHBE) Honors Club. • As founding Vice President, I • Laid out the organizational groundwork and paperwork for the club to become Omega Chi Epsilon, the national Chemical Engineering Fraternity. • Assisted in leading general body meetings and created power points for them. • Helped create departmental service opportunities, such as the CHBE Tutoring program, as well as community service opportunities by working with the non-profit organizations Community Forklift and A Wider Circle. • Kouzes and Posner 5 Leadership Practices in Action: • Model the Way - I established a precedent for what is expected of the Vice President. • Inspire a Shared Vision –I assisted in leading general body meetings to inform members what the club was capable of accomplishing. • Challenge the Process – Since we were a new club on campus, I started programs, such as the tutoring service, that were not there before. • Enable Others to Act – I assisted in recruiting 28 members to actively participate in the club’s activities and give back to the CHBE department and general community. • Encourage the Heart - I thanked fellow members and officers for their contributions to the clubs future.
