  3. Community Helpers Facts • A community is a place where people live, work and play • People who work in the community are community helpers • Community helpers provide services that help people

  4. Can you name some community helpers? Policemen / Policewomen Postmen Firemen Nurses Doctors

  5. Police Officers • A police officer protects us and our community • Besides crime prevention and detection, they act as safety officers on our streets.

  6. Fire Fighters • Fire fighters keep us and our community safe from fires. • Fire Fighters are the bravest of the brave.  They are people who risk their lives time and  again to rescue people caught in fires and to save property by putting fires out

  7. Doctors • We go to see the doctor when we are sick • Doctors are people who have been trained in medical science. Theywill be able to tell us why we feel sick and will make us feel well again

  8. Nurses • Nurses are often referred to as “Angels of Mercy” • They assist doctors in caring for the sick and the injured. • Nurses are the primary care givers, administering medicines and doing tests and caring directly for the patients entrusted to them.

  9. Paramedics • Paramedics are people who are trained to give emergency medical treatment or assist medical professionals

  10. Postmen Postmen pick up, sort and deliver letters and packages to our community and around the world

  11. Drivers • They drive a vehicle from one place to another.
