TTC WG restructuring • TTC is responsible for ICT standardization except for radio and broadcasting issues in Japan. TTCis accredited by MIC to engage in upstream activity to ITU-T SG2, SG5, SG11, SG13, SG15, SG16, SG17, TSAG & RevCom. • TTC introduced new WG grouping structure (5 Division)effective from April 2016 • Future technical areas candidates: IMT-2020, SDN/NFV, Big Data, Industrial Internet, Connected Car, Disaster Relief, E-health and Accessibility etc. • Preparation for WTSA-16 including APT WTSA Preparatory Group. TTC contributes to SG restructuring studies in ITU-T through Global Communication Advisory Group. • Introduced special discount membership fee for SMEs or Academia (June, 2015) TTC’s 18 WGs and 5 Division structure
IoT (Internet of Things) • IoT and its application (oneM2M, ITU-T SG20, etc.) • IoT Acceleration Consortium was established in October 2015 in Japan with the aim of creating an adequate environment for attracting investment in the future with IoT through public-private collaboration. TTC will contribute to Smart IoT Acceleration Forum in the consortium. (Supplementary Slide-1) • Promotion of oneM2M activity in Japan in cooperation with ARIB • Established a new adhoc group to contribute to ITU-T SG20, IoT and its applications including smart cities and communities (SC&C) • Provisional network support in disaster areas utilizing Vehicle communication(Supplementary Slide-2). The next CITS meeting will be hosted by TTC in July 2016 • Future TTCworking structure to cope with IoT issues including oneM2M, ITU-T SG20 and others
Future Mobile Networking • ITU-T FG-IMT2020(Phase 2), 3GPP, Network Softwarization • StartedthestudyofIMT-2020/5G networking (Sept 2014 - March 2015) and developed White Paper on 5G networking • URL: http://www.ttc.or.jp/e/topics/20150413/ • The second phase of study was completed in September 2015, which identified the networking study issues such as network softwarization, mobile front/back-haul, mobile edge computing. (Supplementary Slide-3, 4) • Support theFifthGenerationMobileCommunicationsPromotionForum (5GMF) in Japan with keeping close collaboration with ARIB. • Future TTC working structure to cope with IMT-2020 issues including 3GPP, ITU-T FG IMT-2020
All IP Networking • PSTN migration (year 2025) project in Japan • VoIP/VoLTE interworking guideline between IMS (JJ-90.30) in cooperation with GSMA (GSM Association) • ENUM (JJ-90.31) • Numberportability(JT-E.164Sup.2) • VoLTE speech quality assessment guideline JT-Y1221:Traffic control/congestion control JJ-90.30: II-NNI(3GPP TS29.165based) JJ-90.31: ENUM JT-E164 Sup.2:Number portability JT-Q3402: UNI IMS Operator B IMS Operator A UNI: User to Network Interface II-NNI: Inter-IMS Network to Network Interface
(Supplement-1) IoT Acceleration Consortium • Joint program of industry, • government, and academia • Government initiative • by MIT and METI • IoT technology development • New business model creation • Specific study items for IoT • Over 1300 companies • and organizations • First meeting : Oct. 2015 Source : IoT Acceleration Consortium Home Page
(Supplement-2)Provisional network support in disaster areas utilizing Vehicle communication • Connected car network would support information delivery • under public-service unavailability • Vehicle-installed WiFi/White Space utilization as network HUBs • V2V and V to Server/Internet access with mobility
(Supplement-3) 5GMF Focus Areas in FG IMT-2020 1. Overall Architecture • The focus areas for 5GMF representing in the matrix of system elements and layers. • Slicing of Fronthaul/ Backhaul is new area of study in IMT-2020 network aspect. • Infrastructure aspect of FH/BH is agreed to be handled in ITU-T SG15 4.Edge Computing Platform/ Middleware Applications 5. Softwarized Data Plane (in support of e.g. ICN) 3. Horizontal Extension of Slicing 2. Vertical Extension of Slicing Slicing Infrastructure
(Supplement-4) Network softwarization view of the 5G mobile networks • Slicing allows logically isolated network partitions (LINP) • A slice is considered as a unit of programmable resources such as network, computation and storage • As 5G Mobile Network should cover wider variety of application domains, the concept of slicing should be extended from what are currently targeted by SDN/NFV technologies. Platform/Middleware Applications Slicing Infrastructure The 5G Mobile Networks viewed from slicing based model of Network Softwarization
