Family Treasures • Draw, cut-out, insert clip-art, or download a picture from the Internet that symbolizes or represents a character’s family treasure or heirloom • Brainstorm/cluster four statements around each image (three words or less) • From the character’s point of view, write a personal statement about the importance of this item in the character’s life.
Traditional Foods • Draw, cut-out, insert clip-art, or download a picture from the Internet that symbolizes or represents traditional foods the character’s family makes or would make • Brainstorm/cluster four statements around each image (three words or less) • From the character’s point of view, write a personal statement about the importance of this food in the character’s life.
Holidays or Celebrations • Draw, cut-out, insert clip-art, or download a picture from the Internet that symbolizes or represents the holidays or celebrations your family observes • Brainstorm/cluster four statements around each image (three words or less) • From the character’s point of view, write a personal statement about the importance of cultural celebration or holidays in the character’s life

Spirituality or Beliefs • Draw, cut-out, insert clip-art, or download a picture from the Internet that symbolizes or represents your family’s spirituality or other beliefs • Brainstorm/cluster four statements around each image (three words or less) • From the character’s point of view, write a personal statement about the importance of spirituality or beliefs in the character’s life
Heritage • Draw, cut-out, insert clip-art, or download a picture from the Internet that symbolizes or represents your family’s cultural heritage • Brainstorm/cluster four statements around each image (three words or less) • From the character’s point of view, write a personal statement about the importance of heritage item in the character’s life.
Guidelines • All work must be colorful • The cube must be taped or glued together over a box • Cube can be made of paper, wood, plastic, etc. • Neatness counts! • Be original, creative, even unusual
Grading Criteria • 6 Images Related to Topic • 6 Personal Statements (from Point of View of the Character) • 6 Brainstorms (each 3 words or less) • Multi-colored • Creativity = 4 Points (See next slide for Bloom’s Taxonomy Grading Scale)
Writing Standard 1.3: Organization and Focus Creativity Evaluation Write one sentence explaining what you did well according to the skill being learned using the language of Bloom’s taxonomy. Then, write one more sentence explaining what you could do better or differently next time and how you could move up one level on Bloom’s Taxonomy.
