  7. METAPHOR • A Metaphor is a figure of speech in which things are compared by stating that one thing is another. • Does not use “Like” or “As”.

  8. Metaphor • The boy was a fish in the water.

  9. Metaphor • The pillow was a cloud when I put my head on it after a long hard day.

  10. Metaphor • Her hair was a knot of tangled rope.

  11. Metaphor • The clown was a feather floating away.

  12. Metaphor • Her fingernails were razors on the chalkboard.

  13. Practice: Simile or Metaphor • 1. Amy is as sweet as candy. • 2. Bob is a deer when he runs. • 3. Tony is as skinny as a rail. • 4. Dan was a hog during lunch. • 5. The moon was a nightlight guiding my way. • 6. The dog ran like a train when he heard the gun shot.
