Concerts for Young People Concerts for Young People has been a part of the Amarillo Symphony and the Amarillo Symphony Guild for many decades. Together we partner to bring an educational concert experience to the children of the Texas Panhandle.
Concerts for Young People The Amarillo Symphony presents 6 performances annually over the course of two days targeted to Panhandle 4th & 5th graders. The Symphony partners with Window on a Wider World to develop programs that support the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Past concerts have included Ellis Island: The Dream of America and Space Odyssey.
Volunteer Needs • 2 event chairs to coordinate volunteers, hospitality and project efforts with the office staff. • 10 volunteers for each concert shift. There are six performances over the course of two days. • Volunteers assist with ushering students from buses to the concert hall, audience needs and event hospitality.
Financial Information Revenue $0Ticket revenue for this event is collected by the Amarillo Symphony to off-set orchestra fees for the concerts.Budgeted Expenses $1,100Actual Expenses $ 8312 lunches and 2 breakfasts for all musicians and volunteers. Event chairs were able to secure some contributions of food for the event.

Community Impact More than 6,000 students attended the Concerts for Young People performances over the course of two days. Students represented elementary schools in the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.
