D.E.M.P. Important Reminders Thriller Instinct—H.O.F. Lyrics Key Terms Making it Count Points of Emphasis
Lyrics (see page 5-6 in your packet) • Typed lyrics in correct format must be emailed to me on or before November 16th by 7 p.m. • The chorus or verse should start and end on the same page; the chorus or verse should not continue from one page to another. • Don’t forget to write the member responsibility (using stage names) in parenthesis for each verse or chorus: Example: -Verse 1 (Shi-lay-lay) -Chorus (Band Name/Everyone) -Verse 2 (Point-1) -Chorus (Band Name/Everyone)
Key Terms • “Piggybacking” -repeating the words/lyrics of your band mate/s to create a sense of togetherness. Futuristic JCE example • Swagger—boastfulness, conceit, having a sense of pride; vanity, self-importance, showing off. Exaggerated confidence. -Swagger applies to your introduction and conclusion as well!
Making it Count (W-H-W) • Remember, your introduction/assessment are just as important as your song! Typed introduction and assessment document must be emailed to me on or before November 13th by 7 p.m. What will you say? — make sure your lyrics are accurate; your information/content must be reliable, and understandable. Research your drug and become an expert. • How will you say it?—Say it like you mean it—with swagger and attitude! Speak CLEARLY! Become your alter ego (stage name) when performing. • What will you do while saying it (kinesics)?—Have stage presence. Where will you be on stage and what movements will be implemented? Choreography works and adds to stage presence. Use the entire stage.
Points of Emphasis • Don’t forget a thorough 4—5 minute introduction/assessment (Using note cards ONLY). Be creative and keep the audience intrigued (see page 3-4 in packet). • Remember: Energy, attitude, and clarity = PLATINUM! You all have one goal in mind—to become legend. • Overcome all fears and do what you have to do to achieve what you want to achieve! The mind controls the body. • “You play to win the game.” • How do you respond to a challenge?
