Local Unit Reports • Outstanding Local Unit PTA • Single report • Detail overall activities • Provide documentation • “Priority reports” - 8 categories: Arts in Education, Communications, Community Outreach, Education Enrichment, Health/Youth Services, Legislation/Advocacy, Membership, Parent/Family Involvement
Outstanding PTA Award • Georgia PTA recognizes by categories and one overall unit for their outstanding PTA work. • Must clearly demonstrate use of the six National PTA Standards of Parent/Family Involvement • Maximum of 15 pages for the written portion; maximum of 10 pages for supporting documentation.
Communications Report • One report to include areas such as Publicity/Public Relations, Publications, Newsletter, Handbook, Website, Directory • Newsletter and Handbook are not judged separately • Use the Communications Report Cover Sheet for this report; include two issues of your PTA’s newsletter and your PTA’s handbook
Newsletter Guidelines • Use of PTA Logo and tagline (everychild. onevoice.) • Message from the President • Calendar of events • Committee chair reports/news • PTA membership articles and updates • PTA legislative/advocacy articles • Parenting articles • Parent involvement opportunities • State and National PTA news/information • Council and District PTA news/information • Layout/design (eye-catching, readable, uncluttered
Handbook Guidelines • Use of PTA Logo and tagline (everychild. onevoice.) • Message from the President • Name of PTA unit and school address • PTA Mission and Purposes • National PTA Standards for Parent Involvement • Council and District PTA Information • Place, date, time of meetings, programs and events • PTA Board Roster • Description of PTA committees • Roster for council president, district director, Georgia PTA Board • Georgia PTA Legislative Platform • Names, telephone numbers of local administrators, BOE members, and elected officials serving the school
Council Reports • Council Annual Achievement Report • Summary of council activities • Required by each council • Council Annual Achievement Report • Detail of council events • Must complete Achievement Report
Judging Reports • Georgia PTA board members read and judge using a rubric • The rubric assess a value to the following areas: Goals, Projects and Programs, Use of the six Standards, Documentation, and Results
Goals for Winning Reports • Clearly describe – What were your objectives? What specifically did you set out to achieve? • Why were they important to your unit (or council)? • Who was your target audience? • How did you incorporate the six National Standards of Parent/Family Involvement in your PTA’s goals?
Reports Transmittal Form • President must complete ONE Reports Transmittal Form and submit it will ALL of the reports being submitted. • Streamline and clarify the record keeping process as the reports arrive at the state office. • Keep a copy of the completed form for your records.
