Milestone Submission and Approval Process in Brief Proposers submit proposal on Global History Network Advocate volunteers, or is appointed Advocate reviews proposal (within 3 months)
Milestone Process in Brief p. 2 (the proposal on the GHN serves as a form of review, allowing interested persons to comment via the Discussion tabs) Advocate reviews proposal; guides proposers; recommends History Committee action If History Committee approves, the History Committee submits milestone to IEEE Board of Directors for final approval
Length of Process Typically 12-15 months Depends on meeting schedules of History Committee and Board of Directors. Allow several months lead time between Board of Directors’ final approval and ceremony. Plaques take 8 weeks to cast, patina, and ship
