What are we doing Today OBJECTIVE:WE WILL be able to combine and distribute expressions ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDINGS: Math problems that look hard will be easy if we follow the steps needed to solve it! AP

Procedure for Combining Its Easy 1). You can only combine similar terms: integers with integers, variables with the same variables. Ex:YES: 7 + 4, X + X, X2 + X2, XY + XY NO: X + 7, X + X2, XY + XY2 2). Watch the signs! Remember like terms add to a larger sum than the largest term! Unlike to a smaller! AP

Procedure for Distribution Its Easy 1). Draw the arrows from the term outside the parentheses to the inside 2). Watch the signs! Same signs = positive; Different signs = negative 3). Bring down the operations inside the parentheses AP
