  4. Lesson P6 – Day 3Adding and Subtracting Rational Expressions with like denominators The steps are as follows: • Get a common denominator. • Add or subtract the numerators. • Place the result over the common denominator. • Simplify if possible.

  5. Example 1: Common Denominators Distribute negative. Place result over common denominator Combine like terms. Factor numerator and denominator Cancel out like factors. State the excluded values. Simplify. State domain.(excluded values)
