THE NEW REDBOOK (cont.) • If approved by KBE, it will be filed with Legislative Research Commission (LRC) • Published in the Administrative Register • Public comments will be accepted • Public hearing will be held • Legislative subcommittees will review it • Goal: process is complete in time for the new Redbook to be effective July 1, 2013
THE NEW REDBOOK (cont.) • Susan Barkley, Assistant Director, has two sessions at the Fall KASBO Conference on details of the proposed new Redbook • Lots of MAJOR changes • We changed the format of the handbook in response to districts’ suggestions • Lots of input from district staff, CPAs and KDE personnel
THE NEW REDBOOK (cont.) • Much more guidance on external support/booster organizations • Listing of allowable and disallowable expenditures • Your school bookkeepers and principals will need training before the next school year • Your booster organizations will need training before the next school year
