Sustainability Initiatives • Usually in the form of Grant and Loan • Cover the premium of environmental friendly products • Give preference/priority to green applications • Limited the funding for printed material • Put sustainability event guide on our website • Acknowledge Green events through website/email list
Challenges to Sustainability • Coordination with larger infrastructure challenges • Getting compost and recycling bins for events (and getting them picked up properly) • Working with caterers • “Thinking Green” involves more planning ahead • Limited budgets How should we define a “sustainable event”? What types of efforts promote visibility of sustainable practices and encourage behavior change?
Methodology Regular meetings to discuss and evaluate recommendations
Moving forward • ‘Sustainability Subcommittee’ • Identify time frame of recommendations, i.e short, medium and long term • Further investigate and implement of the recommendations • Spearhead sustainability-related initiatives • Support others that strive to follow the path laid by this report • Lead cooperation of parties across the GSC and broader Institute.
