Spectator Safety Apprenticeship;the new framework Dominic SuttonQualifications Development Edexcel
The NVQs – what is Edexcel offer? • Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF) • 600/1423/4 • Operational start date 01.04 11 • Edexcel Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF) • 600/1422/2 • Operational start date 01.04 11 • Edexcel Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Spectator Safety Management (QCF) • 600/1897/5 • Operational start date 01.06.11
Level 2 NVQ – an update what? what are the changes? when? when do changes come in? why? we already had a QCF NVQ, why change it?
What are the changes? A summary of the changes from old to new, as provided by the SSC: “The following units have been amended ONLY in terms of credit and GLH: Prepare for spectator events Control the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events Monitor spectators and deal with crowd problems The unit ‘Contribute to the work of the team’ has been removed and replaced with the following unit which is simply a later QCF unit of exactly the same NOS: Support the work of the team and organisation” Note: changes mean the NVQ is now 29 credits, rather than 20, and thus the funding should change to reflect this
When and why… when registrations from 01.04.11 must be on new qualification date aligned to new framework ‘issue’ date why SASE!
Apprenticeships… Just one apprenticeship for this sub-sector… Intermediate Apprenticeship in Spectator Safety Framework ID – FR00533 ‘issued’ 11th April 2011 “framework will appear on the Learning Aims Database from 26th May” (SkillsActive) Level 3 and Level 4?
The framework… This framework is unusual… total of 45 credits learners don’t have to do the usual combination of ‘competence qualification’ and ‘knowledge qualification’ NVQ is a ‘combined qualification’ NVQ is 29 credits (of which 11 credits are ‘knowledge’ and 18 credits are ‘competence’) see next slide...
Knowledge and competence credits… Prepare for spectator events (5 credits - 2K and 3C) Control the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events (8 credits - 2K and 6C) Monitor spectators and deal with crowd problems (8 credits - 3K and 5C) Support the work of the team and organisation (2 credits - 1K and 1C) Help to manage conflict (4 credits - 2K and 2C) Deal with accidents and emergencies (2 credits - 1K and 1C)
The rest of the framework… In addition learners have to complete: ‘transferable skills’ ERR ‘on the job’ PLTS ‘additional employer requirements’
