  1. 11th Grade Academy Project Fall 2012 Due November 2

  2. Your Task: • Using a new web based tool, create an exciting presentation on a famous person in world history who as made contributions to society, science, and math.

  3. Thesis Statement • How did your person change the world? Use examples related to their contributions in math, science, and society.

  4. How to Accomplish the Task: • Research your one person from the master list. Be sure to keep track of the websites you use. You will have to create a bibliography using PROPER MLA format. You must use at least 3 sources, books or websites.

  5. Answer the following questions: • What is his/her name? • Provide some BRIEF biographical information. • For what country did he/she contribute to? • What were the major discoveries this person made? • What success/failures did he/she have? • How did he/she contribute to modern society? • Provide 2 interesting facts about him/her.

  6. Take your information and write a small monologue for your person. This should not be more than 2 minutes. • This should be written in first person. Ex. “I was a prominent scientist. . .” “My greatest contributions to chemistry were. . .”

  7. Type your monologue. (You will turn this in.) • 750 words • Typed • Double spaced (Format > Paragraph > Line Spacing > Double) Turn off spacing between paragraphs. • Times New Roman or Cambria • 12 point max

  8. Find a good quality picture of your person on the internet. The bigger, the better. Save your picture to your flash drive and name the picture with the last name of your person. • Be sure to cite your source for the photo. This does not count as one of your three required research sources.

  9. Go to www.blabberize.com • Using this site, create a talking picture of your person.

  10. You will record your monologue using your computer. • Save and name your project. – “Your Last Name-Person’s name” • Tag the project “Parkway West” • I encourage you to create an account once you are done. • Click “share it” and copy the urladdess in the white box. Paste the url address on to your script page that you will be turning in.

  11. Grading Rubric: • 1. Bibliography in MLA format • 3 research citations, 1 photo citation…………………. 7 points • 2.
