Objectives: • Content Objective: The students will be able to utilize evidence provided in the video, Human Body: Pushing the Limits in order to answer text-dependent analysis questions on a worksheet. • Language Objective: The students will be able to identify important information provided in a video in order to take notes that can be used to provide evidence within text dependent analysis questions.
Skeletal System Unit Test Next Class • This test is worth 55 points • 28 points will be for labeling the 26 bones on the skeleton and the 2 joints. • The majority of the remaining points will be from free response questions • The study guide covers exactly what will be on the exam – Use it to study from! • AD Day Test is on Monday 10/19 • BE Day Test is on Tuesday 10/20 • CF Day Test is on Wednesday 10/21
Skeletal System Review – Write Down your Answers • What is the difference between the three types of fractures? • What is the difference between osteoarthritis and osteoporosis? • What are the four types of joints and an example of each? • What are the four major functions of the skeletal system? • What is bone made of and what is the process of bone formation called?
Human Body: Pushing the Limits Video • Directions: Watch the first 8 minutes of the section titled Bone Strength. • While you are watching the video, take notes on information you hear that is new or that enhances information you learned throughout the skeletal unit. • You will be using these notes to complete a worksheet worth 10 points
Worksheet Directions • Be sure to use complete sentences when completing the worksheet and that each paragraph is 3-5 sentences long. • This worksheet is worth 10 points – 5 points for each question • Use information provided in the video to support your thoughts for each question. • In Question 2 make sure to support with both evidence from the video and the notes we took in class. • Topics to think about using: • Skeletal System functions, ossification, individual bones, cartilage, problems and calcium/phosphorus to name a few.
