From contact teaching to distant teaching : Kuopio University’s experiences • compulsory Information Retrieval and Library Skills course for all students from 1972 • challenges: how to motivate students and allow them more freedom in choosing the right time for IL studies • need to create web-courses > TieDot-project 2001-2006 (7 universities/15 discipline based courses • In Kuopio we have at the present web-courses for 10 disciplines
Projects with Faculty of Pharmacy 1 • the aim has been to integrate the IL teaching to the faculty’s own courses • first project: Pharmacology on the Internet • results: we managed to teach to the students the importance of using scientific subject databases instead of Google • Pharmacology on the Internet - a Web-CT course teaching information literacy for pharmacy students in the University of Kuopio. Projects with Faculty of Pharmacy 3. • third project – music as a tool for teaching ethics • results: we managed to teach to the students ethical questions in pharmacy by using music (blues songs) • Beta-blocker blues: pharmacology with a blues beat.
