The Basis of Unity • (Eph 3:14-21) – Paul asked the Father for… • The riches of His glory • Strengthened with His might • His Spirit in the inner man • Christ in your hearts through faith • Rooted & grounded in love • Comprehend with all the saints • Know the love of Christ • Filled with all the fullness of God

  3. The Unity of the Spirit • Eph 4:1-3 – …endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. • The Source of Unity : “the Spirit” • The Practice of Unity: “endeavoring”

The Unity of the Spirit • 1 Cor 1:10 – …by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. • “Same mind” – what we think & believe. • “Same judgment” – what we determine to do.

  5. The Unity of the Spirit • 1 Cor 1:10 – ...perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. • When it affects… our salvation (Eph 4:4-5). • …another’s salvation (Rom 14:14-23). • Goal – “that there be no division among you.”

  6. Hindrances to Unity – 1 Thess 5:14 • “Weak” members • “Fainthearted” (fearful) members • “Unruly” members

  8. A Call To Arms – Ephesians 6:12 • Put on the whole armor of God; stand against all wickedness & spiritual darkness (Eph 6:12). • Overcome weakness, fear & unruliness, • ‘Endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
