Partner Wealth Predicts Self-Reported Orgasm Frequency in a sample of Chinese WomenThomas V. Pollet, Daniel Nettle (2008)
Sample • 60 villages and urban neighborhoods chosen to represent the full geographical and socioeconomic range of contemporary China. • 1534 women • Age range (20 to 64) • Only included women with current male partners
Method • Survey: computer administered interview. Privacy assured. • Dependent Variable: self-reported orgasm frequency with current partner • Responses were answered on the following scale: • 1=never 2=rarely, 3=sometimes, 4=often, 5=always • Independent Variables • Partner Income, Partner Height
Results • For Orgasm Frequency: • 61 women answered 1=never; 182 answered 2=rarely; 762 answered 3=sometimes; 408 answered 4=often; and 121 answered 5=always • Income and frequency of orgasm=Positive correlation • Height was not a significant predictor of orgasm frequency • Also, orgasm frequency was also found to correlated to happiness level.

Discussion • There may be assortative mating of desirable men with women susceptible to be highly orgasmic. The more desirable mates cause women to experience more orgasms. • Income is both an indicator of value as a long-term investing partner and potentially an indicator of underlying genetic characteristics. • Cannot rule out a by-product explanation.
