What Is Ergonomics???? • Ergonomics is defined as the scientific application information concerning humans to the designs of objects, systems and environment for human use. • Ergonomics is involved in everything that deals with humans. Such as; work systems, leisure time, sports, and health. • The aim of ergonomics is to find convenient ways for humans and technology to work peaceably.
Ergonomics Goals • Ergonomics focuses on the interactions between technical products and human beings in the work place. Three Main Sciences • Anatomy • Physiology • Psychology
Ergonomics Success • Company-Borderview Rehabilitation and Living Center. (Nursing Home) • Problem- Lack of training among employees for proper body mechanics. Which resulted in several back injuries reported. • Solution-Department supervisors worked with ergonomics team to change the work environment and equipments. Employees also participated in exercise programs to increase strength.
Ergonomic Success • Company- Tyson Foods of Monett • Problem- Reduce the recurrence of musculoskeletal disorders. To also match employees with the right job positions. • Solution- The company developed an medical program with an medical doctor on-sight. • Musculoskeletal disorders and other injuries decreased. Job placement also improved.
How does ergonomics improve our classrooms and etc…… • Ergonomics help improve our students and etc…… by: • Having personality and career assessment tests that help students find a directions towards there future goals. • There is a on-campus health facility that helps reduce illnesses among students. • Perhaps, we could increase the attention span of students by producing more comfortable seats in classrooms.
Examples • Uni-Tilt- This equipment is tilts and positions totes or boxes. Reduces back injuries.
