TURBINE – a mechanism that turns to make electricity. • FOSSIL FUEL – coal, oil and gas. • EMISSIONS – gases given off when something is burnt. • RELIANCE/DEPENDENCE – to need something or someone else. • IMPORTS/EXPORTS – bought from/sold to another country. • NET IMPORTER – importing more than you export. • EXPLOIT – to use something. • CO2 – carbon dioxide (causes the greenhouse effect) • THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT – the Earth getting warmer. • HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER – making electricity from dams. • LANDFILL – where rubbish is buried. • RENEWABLE ENERGY – energy that can be re-used.
