Modular Design • Image Acquisition via Custom Built PCB • Analog to Digital (A/D) Conversion • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) • Image Processing via FPGA • Image Display via VGA Monitor • System Control via PC Keyboard
Image AcquisitionAnalog to Digital Preparation The video signal is Normalized and DC Restored to use the full conversion range of the A/D.
Image AcquisitionAnalog to Digital Conversion The Digital Data and the 3 Sync Signals are enough to allow the reconstruction of the video data frame.
Image AcquisitionPrinted Circuit Board The design of an custom PCB allows the maintenance of a clean high frequency signal. • Large Ground Plane • Clean Voltage Sources • Heat Dissipation • Buffers
Image Display via VGA Monitor • Different resolution adds a synchronization problem • Pipelining data on the FPGA can be a solution, but not an effective one • Storing data in memory allows but adds the complexity of creating a dual port memory
System Control via PC Keyboard User interface can compensate for the spatial limitations on the FPGA and improve performance. • 32 Kbyte Memory • Choose the window locations. VGA NTSC
Image Processing via FPGA • Utilizing a network of FGPA we can create a stereoscopic system • Pattern and Face Recognition for Security System
