  1. A Brief Description of the Irrigation System in India Irrigation is the process of providing water to the plants for their proper growth. Some of the water sources for irrigation are tube wells, lakes, ponds, wells, and canals. Now, let's examine different types of irrigation techniques in India. Irrigation is done in areas where rainfall is irregular and dry and drought happens regularly. Through irrigation, we can provide proper nutrients to the crop. Different Types of Irrigation Techniques: 1) Surface Irrigation: It is the modern method of supplying water over the soil surface. It is divided into three categories: furrow, border strip, and basin. No irrigation pump is required in this method. 2)Sprinkler Irrigation: In this type, water is given to the field under high pressure with the help of a pump. 3)Drip Irrigation: In this method, the drops of water are directly provided to the roots of the plants. 4) Sub-surface irrigation: With the help of water emitters and a delivery pipe under the ground to supply water to plant roots. For more information, read the full blog at Tractorkarvan. Through irrigation, we can increase crop yield and quality. It also protects the crop from weeds that destroy the crop. Hence, we can say irrigation is necessary for the growth of healthy crops.
