An embedded citation is a bracket with the author’s last name and date of publication i.e. (Bertrand 2012)
Example Organic chemistry is the study of molecules that are carbon based. Since most compounds on earth are made with this carbon backbone, this is a large branch of study in the world of chemistry (Van Kessel et. al. 2008). We will be studying many of these compounds in grade 12 chemistry class. Their uses vary including: fuels, plastics and fibres (Bertrand 2012). The most spectacular reaction with organic molecules is combustion (Anonymous I).
On your handout it shows you the variety of embedded citations including: • 1 author (used in the example) • 2 authors • More than one author (used in the example) • No author (used in the example) • No date (used in the example)
Reference Cited List • Always on the last page of the assignment • Follow the 5 rules for making the list on the handout • Follow the examples and instructions for the type of resource from the handout
Your Assignment • Write a creative story using the answers to the questions given about fire extinguishers • Use embedded citations within your story where appropriate • Include a references cited list in proper format for the resources used on the back of your story
RULES • The story can be no more than 1 pg • The references cited must be on the back (only 1 piece of paper must be handed in) • It can be typed or hand written • Due Monday
