There is more than one way to understand the structure of the brain. It has two hemispheres with separate functions, bridged by the corpus callosum; It has three main parts- the brain stem, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex; The cerebrum has four lobes with specific functions.
If you looked at it from the top down, you would see it has two halves, or sides. These are called hemispheres.
