  2. Definition: • Use of words whose sound echoes the sense • The use of words (such as hiss or oink) that imitate the sounds associated with the objects or actions they refer to. 

  3. Example One • The pigs oink as they rolled around in the mud pen.

  4. Example two The day was hot and dull, and all you could hear was the chirping of the birds.
