UC/CSU A-G REQUIREMENTS • “A” History/Social Science 2 yrs required • “B” English 4 yrs required • “C” Mathematics 3 yrs required (starting with Algebra 1) (4 yrs recommended) • “D” Laboratory Science 2 yrs required (3 yrs recommended) 1 year of Life Science (Biology) 1 year of Physical Science (Chemistry or Physics)

UC/CSU A-G REQUIREMENTS • “E” Foreign Language 2 yrs required (must be the same language) (3 yrs recommended) • “F” Visual and Performing Art 1 yr required (VAPA) • “G” College Preparatory Electives 1 yr required ALL CLASSES MUST BE PASSED WITH A “C” OR BETTER BOTH SEMESTERS OF EVERY YEAR “A-G” Course List Website: www.ucop.edu/doorways

Testing required for UC/CSU • SAT: www.collegeboard.com (depending on the UC campus and the major- the SUBJECT Test may be required) • ACT: www.act.org ** You have until December of Senior year to take the exams. However, we recommend them to be done by November. There are some CSU campuses that ask for the last date to take them to be in October.

NCAA Clearinghouse • If you plan to play sports for a college once you graduate, you must register with the NCAA clearinghouse and make sure you meet the requirements for the Division you want to play for. • Division 1- 16 course Requirement – minimum GPA 2.3 • 4 years of English • 3 years of Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher) • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab) • 1 year of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science • 2 years of Social Science • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language) • There is a sliding scale for your GPA and SAT or ACT test score. • Beginning August 2016, NCAA Division 1 will require 10 courses to be completed by senior year (7 of the 10 must be a combination of English, Math and Science) Division 2- 16 courses • 3 years of English • 2 years of Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher) • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab) • 3 years of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science • 2 years of Social Science • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language) • Minimum GPA for Division 2 is a 2.00, min. SAT score is 820 or ACT sum score of 68.* • NCAA Eligibility Center’s website: www.eligibilitycenter.org • *Starting 2018 minimum GPA for Division II is 2.20 and use sliding scale on test scores

Making up Credits • If you’re in the Migrant Ed Program, see Susana Flores (the Migrant Ed Counselor) to sign up for PASS/Cyber High. • Mrs. Flores is at LRHS (Office 114) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. • Retake the class during summer school or school year. • Advanced Academics • Online credit recovery program. Credits earned in Advanced Academics are only for the courses completed online. • Need to sign a contract • During 6th period only, 30 spots available. Priority given by grade level. • Must attend daily and show progress * Currently online credit recovery programs cannot be used to meet NCAA course requirements. Also, please refer to UC/CSU “A-G” course list website to see which online credit recovery programs are approved.

May require the Common Application: www.commonapp.org • Community Colleges: usually around Marchwww.cccapply.org • Vocational: refer to their website (usually have rolling admissions, every 6 weeks)

FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIPINFORMATION • Look up scholarships www.fastweb.com (make sure to give the people you are asking a letter of rec. from plenty of time) • Create your FAFSA Pin at www.pin.ed.gov (it will be the students and parents electronic signature on the FAFSA) • Cal-Grant: in order to submit electronically, we will need the students social security number. www.calgrants.org • CSS/Financial Aid Profile: certain private schools require it and there is a fee for each campus. https://profileonline.collegeboard.com • Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)- Jan. 1st- March 2ndwww.fafsa.ed.gov • Verify / Update the information on the Student Aid Report (SAR) • If the college you are attending asks for further documentation, make sure to provide them in a timely manner.
