California State University CSU Campus Map • Filing Period: • October 1st – November 30th 2014 • “A-G” Requirements • SAT or ACT • Application cost per campus: $55.00 (fee waiver available, if granted can apply to 4 CSU campuses for free) Apply at: www.csumentor.edu CSU impacted campuses: SDSU, CSULB, CSUF, SJSU and CPSLO
Universityof California UC Campus Map • Filing Period: • November 1st – 30th 2014 • “A-G” Requirements • Minimum GPA= 3.0 • ACT Plus Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test • (depending on UC campus and the major- the SAT II may be required) • Apply at: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/apply-online/index.html • Personal Statement Required (1000 words) to complete application. Think of it as two “interview” questions • Application cost per campus: $70.00(fee waiver available, if granted can apply to 4 UC campuses for free)

Testing required for UC/CSU • SAT: www.collegeboard.com (depending on UC campus and the major- the SAT Subject Exams may be required) • ACT: www.act.org (Take the ACT plus Writing if considering going to a UC) You have until December of Senior year to take the exams. However, we recommend to be done by November. There are some CSU campuses that ask for the last date to take them to be in October. *Fee waivers are available for these exams. Please see Mrs. Farwell in the Career Center to see if you’re eligible.
NCAA Clearinghouse • If you plan to play sports for a college once you graduate, you must register with the NCAA clearinghouse and make sure you meet the requirements for the Division you want to play for. • NCAA Code for the SAT/ACT: 9999 Division 1- 16 course • 4 years of English • 3 years of Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher) • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab) • 1 year of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science • 2 years of Social Science • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language) • There is a sliding scale for your GPA and SAT or ACT test score. • Beginning August 2016, NCAA Division 1 will require 10 courses to be completed by senior year (7 of the 10 must be a combination of English, Math and Science) Division 2- 16 courses • 3 years of English • 2 years of Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher) • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab) • 3 years of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science • 2 years of Social Science • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language) • Minimum GPA for Division 2 is a 2.00, min. May require the Common Application: www.commonapp.org • Community Colleges: apply usually around Marchwww.cccapply.org • Vocational: refer to their website (usually have rolling admissions, every 6 weeks) • Military: take the ASVAB and meet with a recruiter of the military branch you plan to serve for. * May 1st – Statement to Intent to Register (SIR) due for 4yr colleges. ****Before you graduate, submit an official transcript request form to notify the LRHS Registrar when and to what college you want your official graduated transcript mailed to.****
Important 12th grade Deadlines Cont’d…Financial Aid 1st semester: • Look up scholarships, ask for letters of recommendation (make sure to give the people you are asking a letter of rec. from plenty of time) • Create your FAFSA Pin at www.pin.ed.gov (it will be the students and parents electronic signature on the FAFSA) • Cal-Grant: in order to submit electronically, we will need the students social security number. www.calgrants.org • CSS/Financial Aid Profile: certain private schools require it and there is a fee for each campus. https://profileonline.collegeboard.com • Attend our Financial Aid Workshop 2nd semester: • Continue to look up scholarships, ask for letters of recommendation (make sure to give the people you are asking a letter of rec. from plenty of time) • Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)- Jan. 1st- March 2ndwww.fafsa.ed.gov • Verify / Update the information on the Student Aid Report (SAR) • If the college you are attending asks for further documentation, make sure to provide them in a timely manner.
