REGION 1: Brad Heesch, Watertown High School • 24 years in Education, 19 as Teacher, • 5 as Administrator • Family ~ • Wife -Buffy • Children -daughter Maggie (6) • & son Jack (5) • Hobbies ~ Traveling, time at cabin in Minnesota, sporting activities, golfing, & watching my children in all their activities. • Favorite part of Administration ~ Working with staff & problem solving about the students. Working with students and seeing the progress they are making in classroom and socially.

REGION 6: Kyley Cumbow, Pierre Middle School • 13 years in Education, • 4 as Assistant Principal • Family ~ • Married with 3 children, Addison in Kindergarten, Kaden (3) & Gage (1) • Hobbies ~ Running, being with friends, currently taking classes to receive my Specialist. • Favorite part of Administration ~ • I thought I would struggle by not being in the classroom and not being able to build relationships with students. I have found that this is completely untrue. I can still make a difference and sometimes a bigger impact for certain students. I am a huge organizer and planner and I actually enjoy the spontaneity of being an administrator and the unpredictability of the job.

REGION 1: Toni Brown, Langford Middle School • 11 Years in Education, 4 years as Principal • Family ~ • Wife-Connie • Children-Nicole-graduates from SDSU in May, Jackson-attending USD, Shelby-Junior at Webster High School • Hobbies ~ Woodworking & carpentry. • Favorite part of Administration ~ • Working with so many personalities in the students, staff, & parents.
REGION 2: Darren Ellwein, Lennox Middle School • 16 years in Education, 14 as Teacher, 2 as Administrator • Family ~ • Wife of 5 years-Tracee • 2 children~ Caleb (3) & Ella (7 months) • Hobbies ~ Spending time with my family, basketball, growing fruit trees, gardening, farming, & traveling. • Favorite part of Administration ~ • The opportunity to bring about change for a climate and influence the instruction of teachers, working with the great staff at our Middle School, & networking with area Administrators.
REGION 2: Fran Reusink, Dell Rapids Middle School • 21 years in Education, 13 years teaching & coaching before 8 years of Administration • Family ~ • Wife of 8 years-Jennifer • 3 children~ Logan (10), Landon (6), • & Cole (3) • Hobbies ~ 21 years of officiating basketball & 8 years of umpiring baseball. I also enjoy golfing, hunting with friends & family, following Jackrabbit football with my boys, & reading. • Favorite part of Administration ~ Constantly putting the pieces together (curriculum, teachers, programming, community, parent involvement, technology, etc.) to help improve the educational experience for students.
REGION 3: Steve Randall, Platte-Geddes Middle School • 26 years in Education. 6 years as Teacher & 20 in Administration. • Family ~ • Wife -Karen • 4 children; 3 have graduated, 1 is a freshman at Platte-Geddes High School & 1 grandson. • Hobbies ~ Family vacations to Northern Minnesota, hunting & fishing, being with my kids and watching them start their lives as young adults. • Favorite part of Administration ~ Having all the students graduate. The students have met that fork in the road and must now move on to another phase of life.
REGION 4: Craig Cassens, Faulkton Middle School • 16 years in Education, 5 as Administrator • Family ~ • Wife-Laura • Children-John (13), Christopher (10), • & Bennett (7) • Hobbies ~ I enjoy bicycling, playing golf, spending time with family & supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers. • Favorite part of Administration ~ • Fixing problems for people to allow for their day to run more smoothly. Witnessing students make a complete turn-around in their effort and behavior over a period of 4 years.
REGION 6: Doug Eppard, Lyman Middle School • 16 years in Education. 8 years as Teacher & 8 as Administrator . I am also the Technology Coordinator & the Head Boys Basketball Coach • Family ~ • Wife of 12 years-Julie • 5 Children- Austin (11), Devin (9), Carson (7), Stratton (5), & Emerson (2) • Hobbies ~ My personal interests revolve around my family. If our family is not at the gym playing basketball or in the backyard playing football or baseball, we are always together doing something. Having 5 kids and trying to raise them right is what I take most pride in. • Favorite part of Administration ~ Helping teachers become more effective in the classroom by evaluations and suggestions throughout the year. Even though I feel my teachers are very good, there is always room for some type of improvement. I also truly enjoy creating positive relationships with students that help them through the tough years of Middle School.
REGION 7: Jeff Rieckman, Philip Middle School • 16 years in Education, 8 as Principal in Philip • Family ~ wife of 18 years-Lori • No children, but if you talk to my wife she says I am more work than 10 kids!!!! • Hobbies ~ During the school year school activities seem to dominate everything that we do in our lives. During the off season I enjoy getting the motorcycle out on the road, golfing & fishing. At least once a year my wife & I enjoy just getting in the car and heading out for a few days. No real plans or destinations. • Favorite part of Administration ~ • Being around students and not doing the same thing every day. I am fortunate to work with a great staff and kids. They make coming to work enjoyable every day.
REGION 1: Steve Benson, Duel High School • 17 years in Education, 7 as a Teacher and 10 as an Administrator • Family ~ Married 17 years to LeeAnn • Children ~ Erin (14) & Hailey (13) • Hobbies ~ Love to hunt, fish, camp, & draw. Also stay busy with home improvement projects. • Favorite part of Administration ~ Being around students and watching them grow and develop academically and as individuals. It is never boring as each new day is different from the previous!
REGION 2: Todd Foster, Flandreau High School • 24th year in Education. Teacher for 10 years, School Counselor for 8 years, & High School Principal for the past 6 years. I am also the Defensive Coordinator for our Varsity Football team. • Family ~ Married to Jolynn for 25 years. • Children – Spenser, a Junior and Mitchel, a Freshman at Flandreau Public High School. • Hobbies ~ Reading, attending and watching sporting events (College World Series, Minnesota Twins games, & Notre Dame football), golfing, and hunting. I also volunteer with different youth organizations such as Youth Football & Flandreau Baseball Association. • Favorite part of Administration ~ I enjoy being around kids throughout the school day and the interactions I have with them both in and out of the school setting.
REGION 2: LeeAnnHaisch, Alcester-Hudson High School • I have been in Education for 24 years and am in my 7th year as Administrator. I still teach one class per semester. • Family ~ • My husband & I have 4 children – Emma (22), Corey (19), Kelly (18), & Sarah (17). Emma is finished with school & married, Corey & Kelly are in college, & Sarah is still in high school. • Favorite part of Administration ~ I can make our district goals and • visions come to life by providing the training, curriculum changes, & programs for both staff & students. I will admit, however, that I really do enjoy teaching one class every day-keeps me in touch with the students.
REGION 3: Scott Muckey, Corsica High School • In Education for 28 years; 22 years as a Principal • Family ~ Wife – Sheryl • Children-daughter Erin graduating from USD this spring, • son Erik is a Senior at Corsica High School. • Hobbies ~ I enjoy spending time with my family, sports, and school activities of all kinds. • Favorite part of Administration ~ I enjoy observing the successes of the students in all aspects of the school and community as well as their post-school successes. I look forward to the challenges to offer an excellent education program to the students and the community I serve.
REGION 4: Trent Osborne, Ipswich High School • 15 years in Education, 8 as a Teacher & 7 as Administrator • Family ~ • Wife-Nichol, married 14 years • Children-Kendra (8), Brooks (3) • Hobbies ~ Spending summertime vacations with my family. I am an avid golfer and still play amateur baseball. • Favorite part of Administration ~ I love working with teachers who totally love their job and make their classrooms a place where students are eager to go each day. I also love to see students in halls happy to be at school because they feel successful and comfortable.
REGION 6: Larry Ball, Jones County High School • 32 years in Education, 5 years in the classroom & 27 years as Administrator • Family ~ Married 26 years to Bev • Children ~ Spenser (23) lives in Texas, 22 y/o twins Tyler- attends BHSU & Kevin attends DWU • Hobbies ~ I especially enjoy playing golf & working outdoors at home or the golf course. • Favorite part of Administration ~ Being in the classroom and watching as each class develops. I love being out with the students. I don’t believe that there’s any profession more important that the one we have all invested so much of our lives to, that being the education of the children of SD.
REGION 7: Nick Gottlob, Lead-Deadwood High School • I have enjoyed working as a Teacher & Administrator for 9 years; 4 years as Administrator. • Family ~ • Wife-Sara, married 5 years. • Children-Emma (4) & Tanner (5 months). • Hobbies ~ Skiing, fly-fishing, hunting, fishing, & travel. I also enjoy officiating high school basketball and the opportunity to see coaches and athletes in the competitive arena. • Favorite part of Administration ~ The opportunity to work with every student in the school in cooperation with our teachers in preparing kids for graduation & post-secondary planning. Working with other consummate professionals around the state in school leadership to meet the challenges of school in 2010 is a challenging and rewarding experience.
