SACSCOC Overview of Process • Expects an institution has made a commitment to: • Focus on student learning • Enhance the quality of its educational programs • Engage in continuous improvement • Comply with the SACSCOC Standards • Use a multi-phased process: • Off-Site Review (Nov 2012) • On-Site Review (April 2013)
Steps in the Reaffirmation Process • SACSCOC uses a multi-phased process • Off-Site Committee Review of: Compliance Certification Report • Institution’s self-study demonstrating compliance with standards • On-Site Review of: Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) • Committee visits the university, to evaluate and determine the acceptability of the QEP and review areas noted by off-site review committee
The Compliance Certification Report • Institution makes the case for compliance for each of the 97 Standards: • Covering: • Educational programs • Faculty • Library and Learning Resource • Financial and Physical Resource • Institutional Effectiveness • The case is supported with documentation, relevant data, and an explanatory narrative
Off-Site Review-Process • Purpose: Provide an initial review of the institution’s self-study and prepares a report asking institution to explain areas of clarification • Outcome at Previous Institutions: • 2009 Off-Site Reviewers found more than 30% of standards need further explanation • 2010 Off-Site Reviewers found more than 35% of standards need further explanation • Prepare a Focused Report addressing these areas
Off-Site Review- Nov 2012 • For UK committee found 18 standards out of 97, needing further clarification: • Compared with other institutions, UK received far fewer areas of clarification than others • Prepared a Focused Report addressing these areas needing further clarification • Submitted February 25, 2013
