In Plain English… Distinctively Visual relates to how images or imagery have a unique ability to impact on people.If something is distinctive it is different from others or unique or rare.Henry Lawson wrote stories that included some distinctive images and imagery.
Task 1 Look at the following images on the next slides.Write down ONE word or phrase that comes to mind when you see it.
Visuals vs text How can we study distinctively visual when we’re reading?? The distinctive imagery in stories help us to imagine what it might look like! The imagery puts pictures in our mind, and it’s these pictures that are unique and special.
Visuals vs text These pictures in our mind help us learn about our world! They can teach us about relationships, people and places. The imagery, because it’s so distinctive, captures our attention and makes us invest our emotions! We become involved in the story and attached to the character and settings because they seem so real and different!
