4. BACKGROUND No centralized training focused on contingency logistics
Lessons learned from Balkan conflicts confirmed experience/training void
Need for a logistics integrator at the tactical level to improve wing capability
Were an Expeditionary AF
5. GOAL Create highly skilled operational logisticians competent in the following wartime skills:
Mobilization
Deployment
Beddown
Sustainment
Combat Employment
Redeployment
Reconstitution
Command and Control
Provide warfighting commander with special expertise in the application of expeditionary logistics
Leverage effects-based logistics to improve combat capability
6. TARGETED TRAINEES Captain*
Maximum 9 years TAFCSD
Minimum 3 years in primary AFSC at operational (flying) Wing
Must have at least one year Aircraft Maintenance or Munitions experience and one year Logistics Readiness (21S/T/G) experience

7. Student Selection Process Modeled after AFI 11- 415, Weapons and Tactics Prgm
HQ ACC/LG has overall responsibility for the AEFLS
ACC/LGQ board president, plus one 0-5 from AF/IL, each MAJCOM/LG and AEFLS/CO will comprise the selection board
- ARC has own selection board (1 student per class)
8. Student Selection Process Nomination packages will meet AEFLS criteria and be submitted by Wing/CCs to ACC/LG; cc to MAJCOM/LG
- IAW timelines in selection board message
- Multiple Wing nominees will be prioritized by Wing/CC
- ACC/LG is the waiver authority
- Best Qualified
Two AEFLS selection boards per year, each approximately 4-5 months prior to AEFLS class start date

22. Sample Scenario With the bed down scenario, we can talk to some of the position the force issues. Capt Courageous will need to get with the contracting officer to establish contracts with local vendors for equipment and supplies (I.e. forklifts, flatbeds, GP vehicles, fuel, water, building materials, etc..) He will need to get with the CE officer to discuss the plan for personal and aircraft bed down and work both simultaneously. He will have to get with the TALCE to help coordinate airlift into the base and assist with download of cargo from the aircraft to a staging area. Capt Courageous will now have to get it from the staging area to his flight line mx area that he establishes. Capt Courageous will need to establishes comm with his supporting A-4/AFFOR staff and determine his reporting requirements. Hell need to establish his reach back (make contact with the MAJCOM RSS that is servicing his theater)
