Determine what might have happened to the dinosaurs.
4. What do we know about dinosaurs? The dinosaur is a “terrible lizard.”
Dinosaurs were animals that lived 65-225 million years ago.
They are in the same big group of animals as birds and crocodiles.
They are extinct—that means they are dead and gone forever.
5. How do we know dinosaurs lived on earth?
Scientists called paleontologists study fossils.
Fossils are the remains of things that lived millions of years ago. These remains have become part of rocks buried in the earth.
There are several types of fossils.

7. Dinosaur Types From studying fossils, it is determined that there are two types of dinosaurs.
Carnivores: Herbivores:

8. What happened to the dinosaurs? Did they run out of food supplies?
Did they die from disease?
Or, did a meteorite fall to the earth and kill them?
