  1. Aruba CensusInfo Presentation to the CensusInfo Side Event Feb. 22nd 2010, TNLB room 5, UN Statistical Commission 41st session New York.

  2. CensusInfo Aruba • CensusInfo Aruba = work in progress. • Project started Nov. 2009. • 1st phase: preparatory activities. • Bring together project team • Set up geometric component of CensusInfo • Develop first template • 2nd phase: include tables from Social Atlas and census tables with regional component from 1991 and 2000 censuses • 3rd phase: include other tables from book of tables without regional component, and other indicators from 1991 and 2000 censuses • 4th phase: after census 2010, inclusion of all census tables (with and without regional component) • 5th phase: publish and put CensusInfo Aruba on the CBS-website

  3. CensusInfo Aruba • State of affairs • 1st phase: took less than a week. After CensusInfo training in Guyana. • 2nd phase: inclusion tables from Social Atlas and census tables with regional component - finished • Organize tables to be included, Excel format • Define series of IUS (Indicator Unit Subgroup) in CensusInfo • Export empty spreadsheets from CensusInfo, including defined IUS - series • Copy and paste data from census tables into empty spreadsheets • Import filled spreadsheets into CensusInfo Database • Test • 3rd phase: underway

  4. CensusInfo Aruba • What have we learned? • CensusInfo is easy to handle, both for data administrator and data user. • CensusInfo is a great way to disseminate statistical indicators • Even in its current unfinished state, CensusInfo Aruba can already easily be used by data clients. • CensusInfo <> DevInfo

  5. Population density

  6. CensusInfo Aruba • Ways to further improve CensusInfo? • Import data sets created by other software programs should be made more easy • Templates: make templates based on the P & R • Enable the creation of whole IUS series. • Add census specific facilities: e.g. population pyramid, automatic calculation of indicators (population density, sex rations, dependency ratios etc..) • Add help functions and make some functions more user friendly, e.g. ‘Undo’.
