Evangelism. Life not an event. Natural Evangelism. Joseph Hall (1574- 1656) said “Every man talks of and finds occasion to speak of what he likes. As I will think of you always, O Lord, so it shall be my joy to speak of you always, and if I find no opportunity, I will make it .”

Evangelism Life not an event
Natural Evangelism • Joseph Hall (1574- 1656) said “Every man talks of and finds occasion to speak of what he likes. As I will think of you always, O Lord, so it shall be my joy to speak of you always, and if I find no opportunity, I will make it.” • Individuals and the Church need to rediscover “The Lord” as their all satisfying joy and delight and from that, natural evangelism will flow. “First a worshipper and then a worker” Dr. Allen Fleece
What is Evangelism? • The Dictionary describes it this way: • Evangelism refers to the practice of relaying information about a particular set of beliefs to others who do not hold those beliefs. The term is used in reference to Christianity, where the scriptures often describe "evangelism" as "spreading the Gospel".
Why Evangelism? • The delight we have in Jesus Christ and that others may know the overwhelming joy of an intimate relationship with the Lord. • Understanding the eternal destiny of the lost. • Eternal Hell – fire and torment • Eternal Separation from God • Knowing that they are without hope and that after 10,000 years they are no closer to getting out than when they first entered
Facts at a Glance • The worlds population is 6.9 Billion • Approx 6 Billion are still lost • 3.5 Billion have never heard the gospel even once • Less than 5% of Christians have ever led someone to the Lord. • Less than 10% of Christians have ever shared the gospel or witnessed.
Foundations What is the gospel? • Why do we need Jesus, does He promise a better life, health and wealth? • Do we really need to talk about sin and repentance? • Is it enough to just talk about God’s love or do we also need to talk about God’s justice? • Is belief alone enough?
180,000 souls every day enter eternity. The question is who is reaping them?
Who is Involved? • Mat 28:18 - 19 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth. Therefore goand teach all nations.” • Act 1:8 “But YOU will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon YOU, and YOUWILL BEmy witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." The question is what sort of witness are we?
What’s the Plan? Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish” It has been said that failing to plan is planning to fail.

Prayer • Luke 10:2 “Then He said to them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that He may send forth labourers into His harvest.” • Therefore pray, not for the harvest for it is great. The issue is that the labourers are few, pray that there will be willing labourers. • Could I be the answer to this prayer?
Prayer • Why do we pray? Luke 10:2 “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray” • Who do we pray to? Mat 9:38 “Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest” • Who do we pray for? (The Lost)Rom 10:1 “Brothers, truly my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is for it to be saved.” • (Those Going) Eph 6:19 “And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel” • How do we pray? 2Chron 7:14 “If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven”

And how shall they hear without preaching? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace” • Vs. 17 “Then faith is of hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
My Testimony • 1) Who was I before I met Jesus, what was my life like? • 2) What aroused an interest in Christian things? • 3) My salvation – what transaction took place, death to life, acknowledgement of sin etc • 4) Who am I now in Christ as a new creation?

Discipling • Matt 28:19 - 20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." • We can not teach what we do not know ourselves. • Paul often said “follow my example as I have followed Christs”
Life Application • 2 Corinth 3 vs. 2 - 3 “You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God” • There is a great truth here which is both a wonderful inspiration and an awful warning. Every Christian is a letter from Christ. Every Christian, whether he likes it or not is an advertisement for Christianity. The question is what type of witness are you? • Remember : The Name and honor of Jesus Christ is in our hands. • Because Jesus Christ died and rose again and He lives in me, I will ………………??????????
