“Diversity in higher education is therefore a compelling government interest not only because of its positive effects on the educational environment itself, but also because of the crucial role diversity in higher education plays in preparing students to be the leaders this country needs in business, law, and all other pursuits that affect the public interest.”
In 1999-2000, 77 percent of all private school students were white, compared to 63 percent of all public school students. • About 14 percent of private schools had no minority students, compared with only 4 percent of public schools.
85 percent of NAIS students go on to attend “very high” or “higher selective” colleges and universities. • 86 percent of NAIS school graduates planned to pursue a post-graduate degree, versus 74 percent of all students.
