1626 A.D. • Naturally occuring gas is found in the US by John Clayton in a large reserve.
1816 A.D. • Natural gas is 1stused to power a street lamp in Maryland. The lamp had to be lowered at sunrise and raised at sunset.
1821 A.D. • The United States’ first successful gas well was dug by William Hart.
1885 A.D. • Robert bunsen invents bunsen burner which combines natural gas and air at the correct pressure to make a safe flame used for cooking and heating.
1947 A.D. • Gas field wastes 300 million cu. Ft of natural gas per day since oil drillers could not detect the natural gas.
Present • Many new uses have been found for natural gas including the use of it to power cars.
