Advancement to the grade of Senior Member Achieving Senior Membership is an indication of professional growth, and accomplishments in quality or the allied arts and sciences. REQUIREMENTS 1. Have 10 years of active professional experience. Up to 4 years may be satisfied by graduation from an accredited university. 2. Be a Member for at least 1 year 3. Have qualified in one of the following ways : a. Conducting quality-related engineering, inspection, or statistical work, or applying quality on the job for at least 2 years. b. Teaching quality or related arts or sciences at an accredited institution for at least 2 years. c. Being a Senior Member or comparable grade in an American Society for Association Executives’ list of recognized organizations. d. Currently holding an ASQ certification that requires recertification.

Nomination for Advancement to the Grade of Fellow Fellow Members have an established record of contribution to the quality profession or the allied arts and sciences. CRITERIA • Candidates must be sponsored (signed) by 5 ASQ members of Senior level or higher. • Fellows are elected by the ASQ Board of Directors. • Nomination must be endorsed (signed) by the Chair of the nominating unit(s). • Nominations must demonstrate that the candidate: • Has 15 full calendar years of experience in quality • Has been a continuous Senior member for 5 calendar years • Must meet minimum point score requirements in the following categories: • Technical Experience • Occupational Responsibility • Publications, Papers, Presentations • ASQ Activities • Professional Affiliations other than ASQ • Teaching or Consulting
Fellows continued… TIMELINE • July 1 - Six copies of the nomination packet must be received by ASQ HQ. • July 15 - All nominations that meet the basic requirements at HQ are forwarded to the Society Examining Committee for evaluation. • November – those candidates who meet all the requirements will be recommended to the Board of Directors at the annual board meeting. The BoD will elect new Fellows from those recommended.
Fellows continued… HELPFUL HINTS • Carefully evaluate the materials related to Fellow nominations. • Materials can be requested from ASQ HQ or found on ASQNet at www.asqnet.org, in the Leadership area. They are: • Policy and Procedure G-3 • Criteria Matrix • Fellow Nomination Form • SEC Fellow Timeline • Start working on nominations early. • You may need to gather a lot of information to substantiate your scoring. • Nominations are returned which do not fit the basic criteria. • The Society Examining Committee evaluates strictly to the criteria found in Policy & Procedure G-3
AWARDS & MEDALS • The awards and medals recognize individuals for superior achievements in the development, promotion, and communication of quality information and technology. • Anyone, regardless of membership may make nominations. • All nomination forms can be found in About ASQ on www.ASQ.org • ASQ has 10 Society Awards and Medals: The Brumbaugh AwardDeming MedalEdwards MedalFeigenbaum MedalFreund-Marquardt MedalE.L. Continued… HELPFUL INFORMATION • Each Award and Medal has a committee that reviews the nominations based on the criteria of the award or medal. • Each committee proposes a candidate to the ASQ Awards Board for approval or disapproval. • The ASQ Awards Board selects only one recipient for each Award/Medal • Nomination deadline is November 1 • An Honors Luncheon is held during AQC where all recipients receive their Award/Medal and certificate. • The Honors Luncheon is a prestigious 2 hour event which includes acceptance speeches by each recipient. • ASQ announces the winners in OnQ, Quality Progress, and ASQ Public Relations prepares press releases. • Presence is not mandatory • P • Pr • No • process
