EVS 5.0.0.0 Configurations & Security • EAC Certified System Configurations: • Standalone • Each computer configuration is a single, dedicated, EMS workstation • Locally Networked EMS • A closed networked system that combines a client server with one or more EMS workstations. • Additional networking capabilities with the DS850 • System Hardening • The ES&S system is not exposed to public networks when deployed in the recommended configuration • Implementation of effective election system security guards the election process and assures public confidence in results

EVS 5.0.0.0 Security cont. • Hardening configuration includes: • BIOS settings from the vendor PC being used • System Administrator Role (Windows built-in role) • Three User Groups • ElectAdmin- Has access to all ES&S applications installed on system • ElectDefine- Has access to applications that are used to define an election • ElectResults- Has access to application required to report election results

  8. ElectionWareDeveloped in Java, ElectionWare is one database for all operations, election definition, ballot layout, equipment preparation, and ballot image and cast vote record viewing, allows for quick data changes and tracking of data throughout the system.

The DS850 • TruGrip ™ Ballot Transport Technology • Motorized input hopper maintains constant pressure on the ballots • Dual counter-rotating belts separate ballots as they are grabbed, greatly reducing double feeds • Five pick rollers quickly and effectively straighten the ballots before they are imaged eliminating ballot skewing • Twenty-two double rollers maintain full control of the ballot throughout the transport • State Certified: Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin
