Priority Standards Identification Criteria • Endurance – Will this provide students with knowledge and skills that are of value in life regardless of career choice? In future courses? Beyond a single test date? • Leverage–Will this provide knowledge and skills that will be of value in multiple disciplines? • Readiness for the next level of learning – Will this provide students with essential knowledge and skills that are necessary to earn credit or successfully pass upcoming high stakes assessments? STAAR, SAT, ACT, AP, etc.
Curriculum Development Highlights: • K-12 Curriculum writers in math and science focused on vertical alignment • Refined Scope & Sequence to reflect priority standards • Updated current PBL units at various grade levels
Pedagogical Development ELEMENTARY: • Math Summer Institute (2nd-5th) • Nita Copley “Young Mathematicians” (Pre K-1) • MicroTeach Math Coaching Model (K-5) • Science- PBL’s in the Elementary Classroom • Project Wild- OLC

Leadership Development Administrator Academy • Campus Leadership teams (250) • Campus Improvement Plans • Campus Goal Setting • Community Based Accountability
New Hires Induction Week includes: • Campus day with administrator and mentor (all new hires) • Curriculum Coordinators provide overview of curriculum resources and instructional expectations • Building Classroom Relationships (Fred Jones training)

Summer of Learning… From June 10 (first day of Summer break) and August 26 (today) there have been teachers in a professional learning opportunity every single week day. NISD Educators….committed to making every student Future Ready.
