3.
In this lesson we will be thinking about the harm caused by bullying.
5. Have you ever heard someone say these words:
‘Sticks and stones can break your bones, but words can never hurt you!’
What did they mean?
6.
Is it true?
7. Now cut out a paper heart
8.
Think of a time when someone has said something that has been hurtful.
9. Share this with the class, in turn.
As you do so, screw up your paper heart.
10. This time, think of something good that you have heard someone say about you.
11. Share this with the class in turn.
As you do so, try to smooth out your paper heart.
12.
You will see that our paper hearts will
never be completely smooth again.
Mean words leave scars on our hearts,
just as they left wrinkles on the paper.
13. Let’s remember a new phrase:
“Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words may hurt our hearts.”
