Site VisitVirtua Cardiac Rehabilitation • Cardiac Rehab is a medical program that helps improve the health and well-being of patients who have suffered from heart problems. • Heart attacks, stable angina, coronary bypass surgery, angioplasty, atherectomy, stent implantation, cardiac transplantation, cardiac transplantation, and valvular surgery. • Promotes lifestyle changes • Cardiac Rehabilitation Team • Exercise Physiologist Requirements • Behavior Change • Health Promotion • Nutrition • Certifications • Monitoring Exercise • Demonstration • CPR/First Aid

M.Ed in Kinesiology—Exercise Physiology • 2 year program containing three different options of study • Prepares students for a plethora of careers in health and exercise science • Emphasizes cardio-respiratory function education with classes to work with • and high-risk patients. • Provides knowledge on how to interpret health data

Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Physiology • "To educate all individuals in the development of a healthy, active lifestyle and to prepare students for the teaching and exercise professions.” • It’s a 33-34 credit hour program depending on student’s choice of research report and internship • Heavy science, multiple courses

  5. M.A. in Wellness and Lifestyle Management • Consists of 10 courses and a total of 30 graduate semester hours • Students gain knowledge to plan and implement programs for behavior change • Focuses mainly on educational courses

American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM) • Association of sports medicine, exercise science and health fitness professionals • Dedicated to helping people live longer and healthier lives • Offers a ACSM membership for professional and students • Offers 8 certifications • Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) Certification • 400 hours of interning before examination • Contain a bachelor’s degree in a health related field

  7. American Heart Association (AHA) • “ To build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke” • Go Red for Women Goal is to reduce CV disease by 20% by 2020 • Provides ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
