Learning Goals • You will learn how to identify the most important information and ideas when reading a work of non-fiction • This is something highly successful students do to help them make sense of new information when reading, without getting too confused or overwhelmed! • You will learn how to make notes on an informational text • This type of note-taking can help you to study or prepare for an assignment in many different classes • It will also prepare you to write or deliver summaries of longer texts Ms. Maselli, YRDSB 2012

Success Criteria • Identify the most important words or phrases in a passage from the article "Meaningful Employment" • Explain why they are important • Identify the less important information in the passage • Explain why it isn't as important • Make study notes for one passage from the text Ms. Maselli, YRDSB 2012
