  2. Recharter:KEEP IT SIMPLE!

  3. Basic Steps to Recharter • Log-in to the Online Recharter System as a “First Time User” and set up your User Name/Password • Load & Update your Unit Roster (Online Stages 1-2) • Load your roster from the ScoutNET system or your own Pack/TroopMaster file. • Update the roster by “renewing” members who are returning, adding new info, and reviewing adult leaders. • Check Roster (Online Stage 3) • The system auto-checks the roster again BSA Standards and suggests necessary corrections.

  4. Basic Steps to Recharter • Update Fees (Online Stage 4) • Final Review of all Unit Members and fee calculations. • Submit Roster (Online Stage 5) • By clicking “Submit” you are posting it to the Council…NOW you need to print the Renewal Packet and… • Gather Signatures • The completed Charter Renewal Packet (printed hard copy) needs to be signed by the Unit Leader (CC or CM/SM/NL) and the Charter Org (COR or other designee). “Council Rep” signs upon receipt of completed paperwork. • Turn in SIGNED Renewal Packet and check on NOV 7 at Roundtable (7 pm, Christ Presbyterian)

  5. Who can help? • Online Tutorial on NSC Website • Past Leaders from your Unit • Unit Commissioner • District Commissioner • Council Registrar • District Director

  6. FEES • National Fees have been increased to $24 per year • That’s $2 per month…you can’t even belong to NetFlix at that price. • Boys’ Life is still just $1 per month, or $12 for an annual subscr.

  7. FEES • This fee increase is for youth and adult members. It will be the fee structure you see calculated for your Unit when you recharter. • All members, even those who you recruited this fall, will need to be Rechartered. • Second-year Webelos will also need to Recharterwith their PACK this fall.

  8. FEES & WEBELOS • “But the Webelos will be paying for only 3-4 months of Pack programming before joining a Troop!” • Correct! BUT, in order to transition into a Troop BEFORE completing 5th Grade, Webelos MUST have earned the Arrow of Light…which they can only do as a member of a PACK. So…

  9. FEES & WEBELOS • Webelos II should be rechartered with the Pack this fall for the 2014 Scouting Year. • As in previous years, when that Webelos earns the AoL and crosses over, it will only cost $1 to transition into a Troop, because he will have current, paid registration through Dec 2014.

  10. FEES & WEBELOS • If your Pack or Troop charges MORE than the National BSA Annual Fee, then it is up to YOU to reconcile this with your associated Unit(s) at the time of transition.

  11. FEES & WEBELOS • Suggested ways of handling Transition: • Packs charge Webelos II only the National Fee at the time of recharter; Troops then charge their own standard dues. • Packs charge a “Pro-Rated” version of their standard dues; Troops then charge a similar “Pro-rate” to transfer. • Packs charge full standard dues; Packs then transfer an agreed upon amount to the Troop to off-set costs. • The key to making this smooth is good communication NOW between Packs and Troops.
