What is the introduction to the qualification? • Opportunity to discuss with learner & employer benefits, obligations, handbook and completion of forms to sign up learner • Complete initial assessment, discuss results & exemptions. Involve LSTA if needed • Agree programme of learning that suits ability and vocational setting • Record & use information to support learners through to the completion of the qualification • Create a solid foundation to aid progress and achievement
Initial assessment for learners • Learner to complete application form/CV – use this to aid discussion & identify individual needs • Use initial assessment indicator list carry out basic skills or key skills tests • Where certificates prove exemptions, tests do not apply • Allocate learner handbook/Be safe brochure and question later to consolidate • Mark tests, discuss & agree vocational programme of learning & record results on PLP • LSTA allocated if score less than level 1 on basic skills test
Sign up • Complete funding body documents, placement agreement and front section of PLP to sign up learner • Verify contractual obligations with learner and employer and agree sign up content • Where ALN or ASN is identified refer to KLP 4a (learning support) • Check and record on PLP & VPR learner has had induction to workplace • Complete induction checklist • Explain next visit. Complete VPR
