  1. Welcome to the Warren County Career CenterMedia Center One of the very best places in the world.

  2. Caught You Santa comes to visit the preschool students. He brought each student a board game to play with family.

  3. DID YOU KNOW? You can come and check out any one of the following:Laptop computer,Kindle, Headphones, Microphone & Headset,Flip Camera, or Digital camera.

  4. Argh! The media center celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day & it was such a success that it will become an annual event. Come in to find out about more special days in the future.

  5. CHECK IT OUT! The media center hosts book signings and authors & illustrator visits. See what is scheduled today!

  6. Caught You Students check out the fantasy hair entries. The cosmetology students created fantasy hair and makeup based on a theme. All contest entries were displayed in the media center and voted upon by students and staff.

  7. FACT: There is no better place in the WCCC to come and chill out with friends.

  8. Using “Google” as a verb became official in 2006 when the Anglo-Saxon word was added to the Oxford English Dictionary. DID YOU KNOW? Every student and staff member has a Google account. This gives people access to : Google Docs, Gmail, Google sites, And much more. . . Your address is: Firstname.Lastname@apps.mywccc.org Your password: Same as logging in to a computer

  9. Caught You Students have an original picture book read-in for Ms. Frandoni’s English class.

  10. FACT: Did you know that there are four touch screen computers in the middle of the media center entirely dedicated to finding things in our WCCC online catalog? Click the paw print to complete a search.

  11. FIND IT! Due to the way the media center was constructed, the fiction section is located in 3 distinctly different areas. A-E (pictured left) F-HEU HIG-Z Note: This school year much of the fiction section was moved to accommodate the new SmartBoard.

  12. Caught You ECE students practice their reader’s theater. Reader’s Theater is the practice of acting out literature. In this case, the students acted out a picture book designed to teach preschool aged children.

  13. DID YOU KNOW? Students often ask what the devices are that are suspended over the two lounge areas. They are directional speakers.

  14. DID YOU KNOW? You can bring your old batteries in to the media center to be recycled.

  15. Caught You Mrs. Milner reads The Napping House to the preschool students. There are two preschool classes here at the WCCC, am and pm. Having the preschool helps to enhance the education of the Early Childhood Education students as well as offering a great service to the Warren County area.

  16. CHECK IT OUT! If you haven’t done it yet, “like” the WCCC Media Center’s Facebook page. It will keep you up-to-date with the latest announcements, pictures, contests and information about your favorite books.

  17. DID YOU KNOW? The media center subscribes to the following magazines: Bon Appetit, Entertainment Weekly, Field & Stream, Four Wheeler, Guitar Player, Hot Rod, Instructor, Outdoor Life, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, Shape, Sports Illustrated, & Teen Vogue

  18. Caught You The winners of the Amazing Library Race join in on a long standing tradition of getting their picture taken with Larry the Gnome. Each winning group gets to chose its pose.

  19. FACT: You don’t have an iPod or other MP3 player? No problem. You can still listen to a book using one of the following: Kindle, book on CD, or Playaway (pictured right) Note: All Playaways have been moved directly next to the main entrance of the media center.

  20. DID YOU KNOW? You can play chess or Scrabble with friends here in the media center or check one of the games out to be played anywhere within the building.

  21. Caught You Reader’s theater meets The Rhyming Dust Bunnies. The students begin with a script, but how the play eventually pans out has everything to do with their imagination. These students did a great job!

  22. FACT: The media center is the prettiest and most serene place on campus. What a great way to spend a lunch period or a bit of free time!

  23. DID YOU KNOW? New This Year: QUESTION OF THE MOMENT PROJECT It is where a simple question is taped to the main entrance of the media center. All students are encouraged to answer it and weigh-in .

  24. YOUR RESOURCES: All students have a premade VoiceThread account. VT is a “collaborative, multimedia slide show using images, documents & videos.” (Description from www.voicethread.com) See Mrs. Milner for more information.

  25. Caught You Here students are racing to win the “Amazing Library Race.” This fall students will begin to complete paperless hunts. More details to follow. . .

  26. DID YOU KNOW? The media center has a College Corner. It has information about many local colleges & universities.

  28. YOUR RESOURCES: The media center has 8 Kindles available for check-out. Possible uses include: Reading selected popular fiction or classics, Using the text-to-speech option to hear the book, Reading word documents that have been sent to the device’s specific email address.

  29. Caught You Staff preparing to Blabberize... www.Blabberize.com is an online tool that lets you animate pictures making an ordinary still pictures “talk.“ Want to know more?  See Mrs. Milner, the self-proclaimed queen of Blabberizing.

  30. DID YOU KNOW? In order to check out a device worth $100 or more, you must return a permission slip signed by your parent or guardian. This signed form will cover your check- outs for a full academic year.

  31. FIND IT! Biographies are labeled with a B on the spine label and then the first three letters of the subject’s last name. Note: The biography section has been relocated between Fiction A-E and the Easy section for the preschool students. But another good biographical resource is on INFOhio .

  32. Caught You During this Amazing Race Competition, there were actually two teams who finished at the same time. The competition can be fierce!

  33. YOUR RESOURCES: Attend a tech training workshop today. We offer training on the following: Blabberize, Glogster EDU, Google Docs, Livebinders Prezi, VoiceThread, and more. . .

  34. YOUR RESOURCES: Check out INFOhio and its great FREE digital resources: encyclopedias, streaming video, articles from 6,000+ magazines/ newspapers, practice tests, biographic information, online book catalog ancestry research tools, language coach, & much more. . .

  35. Caught You The preschool and ECE students work on a storytime extension activity. Storytime is divided into multiple types of activities: reading, singing and dancing, and a craft, all of which are designed to increase literacy. During storytime, student walk-ins are not permitted.

  36. FACT: Did you know that Larry the Gnome is the media center’s mascot? Sadly this little guy has passed on to be replaced by his brother, a slightly larger, heavier, and more resilient gnome.

  37. FIND IT! Books with short stories are found in their own section entitled STORY COLLECTION.Each has a call number starting with SC. Note: This fall this section was relocated to shelves close to the media center’s main entrance.

  38. Caught You This is Jeff Kraus, recent WCCC graduate & published author of The Aspie Teen's Survival Guide. In the fall of 2011 he came to speak about his book and signed copies of his books for the audience.

  39. FACT: At the circulation desk you can find the following for in-house use: Headphones, Scrap paper, Stapler, Tape, & Pencil Sharpener. The following are available upon request: Scissors, Writing utensil, Colored pencils, Markers & Glue/ Glue Sticks.

  40. YOUR RESOURCES: If you have a special little one in your life, you can check-out one of the many children’s fiction or nonfiction picture books. They are indicated with an E for EASY on the spine label.

  41. Caught You Here are some more Amazing Race challengers. The media center is a flurry of activity on race days. You can’t find answers sitting still!

  42. FACT: You can have up to FIVE items checked out at one time. Books may be checked out for two week periods and renewed as needed. You may not check anything else out when you have two overdue items.

  43. YOUR RESOURCES: Every student and staff member in the building has a premade www.GlogsterEDU account. Glogs are interactive posters that display pictures, videos, text and links to web sites. See Mrs. Milner for more information.

  44. Caught You The career center has many academic and social opportunities for you. Make the media center part of both.

  45. FIND IT! GRAPHIC NOVELS have their own section. Their call number begins with GN. Note: they have been relocated near the main entrance to the media center. Some are illustrated renditions of classics you may be reading in English like Frankenstein , The Great Gatsby, & Macbeth.

  46. As you can see, this is not your ordinary “library.” The media center is the heart of the Warren County Career Center. Make it a regular stop and you won’t regret it.
