  1. What can you do to change the world?

  2. What is KIVA? A program that focuses on people helping others by earning money and then lending it to them to begin a business or to help their business.

  3. How does work? The borrower meets with the Field Partner and requests a loan. The Field Partner disburses a loan to the borrower. The Field Partner uploads the loan request to Kiva, it's reviewed by a team of volunteer editors and translators and then published on Kiva.org

  5. What will I need to do? • Research the people requesting loans with your class. Learn as much information as you can about the person and their plans for the money. • Work as a team with your fifth grade classmates to think of ways to EARN money. * 5th grade Living History Museum – October * Fall Festival - October

  6. How long is the project? • The 5th grade team will be working on this project all year. • Begin with raising money during the 1st nine weeks: $25 to sponsor 1 person or $125 to sponsor 5 people (1 for each class) • More to come …

  7. What do I do today? • Look at the KIVA web site and familiarize yourself with it. • Create a list of the 5 most interesting people, including their names, country, and what they will use the loan for
