WE WILL BEGIN WITH • A SHORT REVIEW OF A VERY BASIC MODEL OF IP COMMUNICATION • FOCUS ON THE TYPE AND FUNCTIONS OF COMMUNICATION IN ORGANIZATIONS • WHAT FUNCTIONS DOES COMMUNICATION – OF WHATEVER TYPE – SERVE IN ORGANIZING? • REVIEW HOW COMMUNICATION TYPES CHANGE AS ORGANIZATIONS GROW – FROM • PURELY FACE-TO-FACE TALK – MUTUAL ADJUSTMENT – TO • AN EMPHASIS ON WRITTEN DOCUMENTS – TEXT ON PAGE AND NOW TEXT ON SCREEN. • ALSO WE WILL KEEP COMING BACK TO THE PROBLEM OF COMMUNICATION OVERLOAD – TOO MUCH INFORMATION -AND HOW ORGANIZATIONS DEAL WITH THIS. HOW THEY CHANGE.
