Employment(Student) Student Employment provides so many benefits. Some of those benefits are: • Obtaining job referrals, • Learning interview strategies, • Attending job seeking skills that can help you in situations that may present themselves while job searching.
Writing Lab Writing tutors work with writing assignments and other projects both in person and online. They assist with analyzing writing situations, with developing plans, and with more technical aspects of writing such as organization, grammar and usage.
Learning Center The SLCC Learning Center Program provides FREE: • tutorial services • Math & Sciences (walk-in tutoring) • Learning Emporium (beginning math 0900-0990) • Online Tutoring • Math Final Reviews • Focused Tutoring (one-on-one tutoring) • Tutor Training • Learning Support and Tutoring Services
Student Center The student center has EVERYTHING in it. It has: • The cafeteria, • The Financial Aid Office, • The Book Store, • The information Desk, • And cashiering Building Hours:Monday thru Thursday: 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Saturday: as needed for reservationsSunday: Closed
Academic Advising • Create an educational plan and/or set up a class schedule, • Identify the courses needed toward graduation, • Get started at SLCC, • Obtain transfer information, • Review academic progress,
Disability Resource The DRC provides: • Timely accommodations with the goal of insuring equal opportunity for all students and there abilities. • Maintaining the academic standards of the College. • Establishing ongoing partnerships through a framework of mutual understanding and respect. • Providing educational information and assistance to groups and consumers (Act (ADA) is required in order to receive services or accommodations).
Financial Aid Some grants you may qualify for are: • Federal and State Grants, • Federal Student Loans, • Federal Work Study, • Institutional scholarships, • Non-institutional scholarships, Students may access information about their application and awards through the colleges MyPage system.
Student Activities/Clubs The student clubs and activities Organization creates leadership environments, hands on experience providing students opportunities to have a voice, get involved, find their place, meet new people and shape moments of inspiration.
Health & Wellness Health & Wellness Services provide access to; professional medical services, counseling, health promotion and gives every student one free massage (by appointment) every semester. It is $10.00 for every massage after that.
Thayne Center The Thayne Center finds and provides volunteer opportunities for every student who wants them. They help you to get experience in the field you are going into. They also offer great deals on trips for spring break!
Library The library system has print books and periodical subscription, access to electronic databases and reference titles (which include full text articles and indexing/abstracting services), e-books, e-journals, online video resources, popular movies, videos, and more. Library staff provides assistance with: e-Portfolio, research, and reference questions; inter-library and inter-campus loans; and training to assist in using the library's resources and accessing the Internet
