  2. Student Employment offers many benefits to all SLCC students. Here you can obtain job referrals,learn interview strategies, get help with creating a resume. All to help YOU succeed in life after college. • When visiting this resource center I would suggest that you ask about their work study program. This allows you to earn school credits, have a decent income and develop skills in the area in which you want to graduate. • This can put you ahead of your future competitors!!! Check it out !!!

  3. SLCC has two writing centers, One for students, and one for the community. This center helps students with writing assignments in ANY subject. Where as, the Community Writing Center supportsand educates those with practical writing needs. • You need to bring the copy of what your professor would like the out come to be • You can get help weather you’ve already got your first draft, a few paragraphs or don’t even have a clue what you want to write

  4. The Learning Center is a great benefit to students who want to take advantage of training in many areas. This includes one on one tutoring for math and sciencesand many other advantages to visiting the learning center? The Learning Center offers: • Math & Sciences (walk-in tutoring) • Learning Commons (beginning math 0900-0990) • Online Tutoring • Math Final Reviews • Focused Tutoring (one on one) • Tutor Training • Learning Support and Tutoring Services • E-Portfolio Lab & Support

  5. The Student Center is so full of options it needs three levels to hold it all. The main floor has a book store, a cafeteria and an info desk where you can find health and wellness, cashiering and the Thayne Center. Finally at the top on the second floor you have everything from Financial Aid to Academic Advising.   6. Do you have questions about how to reach your academic goals? For example… • What is my academic plan? • What classes are required for my diploma or degree? • What order should I take them in? • What are the best elective classes for my coursework? • How do I know how to transfer to the next school? • What other resources are available to help me? • Here at the Academic & Career Advising , SLCC has provided help for the “now” and for the future • They have many tutors with college degrees to help students figure out where they want to go in life and how to get there. • They help to figure out what classes you need to take to satisfy your major and to get into universities to further your education after SLCC. • Even if you don’t know what you want to major or achieve from college, they have a FREE assessment test. This test will help you learn what talents and abilities you have and what areas you would succeed in most.

The purpose of this resource center is to enable students with disabilities to have full access to the college experience at SLCC by providing: • Suitable, practical, well-timed accommodations, while complying with ADA regulations. • Sustaining official SLCC Policies and Procedures and assuring academic standards. • Providing perpetual alliance between students and SLCC faculty, staff, and administration. • Delivering educational data and help to internal and public groups. • Required documentation of limitations (mental or physical) preventing ADA defined activities is a requirement for accommodations and resources. These requests will only be granted if approved by a certified advisor and deemed to be reasonable.

The SLCC Financial Aid Office and website are available to help with: • Grants from Federal and State • Federal Student Loans • Work Study Program, Federal • Scholarships, Institutional and Non-Institutional (Note: Financial aid is generally for tuition and fees) • Fall Terms: April 1 • Spring Terms: October 1 • Summer Terms • Funds are available subject to availability to qualified students • Applications are to be submitted after summer term registration

Student Life and Leadership is a big part in Clubs and Organizations, such as: • The Pre-Med Club • The Hispanic/Latino Student Association • Healing Rhythm; to help people deal with stressed and heal the soul with the beat • The International Club; to share experiences, learn languages and traditions and develop better communication abilities • They even have a GYM time club!! There are many more clubs to join or even create!! So visit them in the Student Life and Leadership office, room number 124 in the Student Center next to “The Lair”. Here on the underground floor of the Student Center lies the Health and Wellness Center. • You will find many services provided for SLCC students, such as: • One free massage per student every semester!! Then after that it’s only $30 per visit • One free check up with a nurse Every semester!! Then after that it’s only $10 per visit • Flu shots at super low prices!! • There is also a club called the Student Health Club where students learn how to stay healthy

  11. For students college can be more than just textbooks. At the Thayne Center you can do many things outside of the classroom. For example: • An Alternative Spring Break: For an affordable price you can visit many a place throughout the U.S. during your spring break to serve the community and learn how we can better our community in Utah. • The price includes hotel, food, transportation, and much more • Service-Learning also helps students with volunteer opportunities and critical reflective thinking. • Civically Engaged Scholars is a program where students put their education to work by serving in their community, establing life long commitment to volunteering and community engagement To learn more visit the Thayne Center for Service Learning on the under ground floor of the Student Center

Here at the Library they have many resources to help you study for classes such as: • Computers • A big selection of books to find your favorite or class books • They also have a great people to help make sure your time there is spent well • Also under the library you will find tutoring for all math levels, E-Portfolios and more Hours for the Library at SLCC’s Taylorsville Campus
